so we've been hit with (yet) another daycare related cold. rory was sent home early last tuesday for having a fever, and i stayed home with her on wednesday, and then i was sick all weekend. that's the way it goes. fortunately, we're both on the mend and into the draining phase in which we have to have many many boxes of kleenex strategically placed around to house.

the funniest thing from this last week: i was doing something in the kitchen and rory was in her high chair eating. she sneezes, so i say 'bless you' from the kitchen. she sneezes again, so i say 'bless you' . then comes a series of sneezes in rapid succession with me saying 'bless you' after each one, and i finally turn around to figure out that the last set of sneezes were all fakes. sneaky little smile from the high chair...

the hazards of a cold, long winter: we've gone through our pre-buy of heating oil. in these parts, every year during the summer, most people do a pre-buy for their heating oil, which basically locks in the price per gallon for a certain number of gallons. it's usually based on what you used the previous winter, and what the weather predictions are for the coming winter. last year, we only used about 2/3 of our pre-buy and that carried over to this year, when we bought the same amount. well, now we've gone through the old pre-buy and the current winter's pre-buy, so we're paying a lot mroe for oil. time to get out the sweaters and stoek up the fireplace!
