shoot me now.

the 'cold' is still hanging on, although i'm starting to feel like i'm crawling over the hump, on my way to a relatively healthy status. here's the rundown:

last week, tuesday through thursday: sleep in no more than 2 hour segments due to coughing fits in the middle of the night and a bit of a sore throat on wednesday night.
last friday: came down with pink eye friday night, went to bed early because i was so exhausted, in addition to the sleeping patterns mentioned above, i get a calf cramp in the middle of the night (common during pregnancy) that is so painful it wakes me up and it's all i can do to hit brian so he will wake up and massage my leg until it goes away.
saturday morning: speak with laurie (my midwife and sister-in-law) who rx's cough syrup with codeine so i can try and get some sleep.
saturday afternoon: one of my ears gets so plugged up the the pain is excruciating. i kid you not, i wanted my mommy at this point. knowing she was out of town was not comforting-i couldn't even call her and get mom sympathy. brian asks me how i'm doing and i try to speak but just start crying.
saturday night: somewhat better sleep, but only incrementally.
sunday: ear feels plugged still, but not painful like before. feeling slightly better, starting to think that i might be getting over this f-er. talk to sisters, parents and laurie, which make me feel better (get lots of sympathy). laurie offers to come over and cook dinner monday night (everyone else at her house is off on april school vacation trips). of course i say YES YES YES!
sunday night: i'm up until 12:30 AM trying to do something about my cough so that i (along with brian) can sleep. at this point, my back and ribs are sore from coughing so much. i had take 1 teaspoon of codeine syrup, brian makes me go downstairs to take an additional teaspoon (don't worry-it's in the rx, 1-2 teaspoons). i also have 2 mugs of hot chocolate to coat my throat and loosen up stuff, but it takes 2 hours to get my cough to a place where i can share a bed with someone. the good thing is that i actually fall asleep and sleep until 6. the bad thing is that i don't get to sleep late after that.
monday: still feeling pretty sick, thinking that the optimism i had last night about getting better was a bit misplaced. take rory to go grocery shopping, then to do a little running around at the Montshire. then home for lunch and a family nap. we are all exhausted. of course i sleep for about a half hour, then the coughing starts again.
monday night: laurie makes some excellent chicken tortilla soup-hot both chemically and thermally so i have to keep the kleenex box handy to wipe my nose. sleep is actually pretty good, so it's off to work i go...

that's probably more than anyone wanted to know, but i had to share. and don't forget, while all this is going on I'M 33 WEEKS PREGNANT. put that in your pipe and smoke it.
