happy 75th birthday today to my mommy. :-)

this has been a circus kind of summer for rory. we went to the big apple circus in july, two circus camp shows (also in july) and this past sunday, circus smirkus. circus smirkus is great because it's all kids from about 12-18 years of age, the tent is really small and it's just basically a good time. we had heard form others that it was a GREAT circus to go to, and now we're believers.

other than that, not much going on. rory had a runny nose late last week, which has now moved on to alix (makes sleeping with her in our room challenging). i made some blueberry jam this weekend, this first of many cannign projects i want to complete so we have enough to give out at the holidays, and still have some for ourselves. brian put a combo light and fan in the ceiling of the upstairs bathroom and it's great. provide a lot more light, and takes care of the steam from the shower like nobody's business. i'm wanting to start a few knitting projects, but still need to finish a couple of scarves i owe folks (sorry mom!). and i'm finding more and more cool yarns, especially online, that i want to get and use to knit hats, scarves, whatever. i'm hoping to take a sock and a mitten class at a knitting store in woodstock this fall/winter. family members, don't be too surprised if you end up with some combination of fruit preserves, pickles, mittens or socks for christmas this year.
