i got word this morning that another one of the docs i worked with passed away this weekend.

jim klint, who had been diagnosed with cancer in the last year, passed away at his home on saturday, with his family by his side. he was an excellent physician and oncologist, a good person and a friend. up until a few months ago, i still exchanged occasional e-mails with him, but i had no idea how far his cancer had progressed.

i have to say that i happened on my position in the sports med department at PAMF when it was a really wonderfully cohesive group-i know it sounds cliche, but we really were a family. i mean, yeah, we had our occasional problems, but i would consider everyone who worked in the office my friend, and i still keep in touch with many of those people even though very few of them still work at the PAMF. over time, the department changed-people moved on, retired, or whatever-and the group wasn't nearly as closely knit as it had been at the beginning. to have lost 2 of that original group in the space of six days is devastating.
