so right about now i'm thinking of my friends, alice and james, who moved from menlo park, ca to raleigh, nc a few months ago. i know alice is a born and bred california girl and james has spent most of his life there (sorry james-didn't know if you were born there too!). in any case, there's a hurricane bearing down on them and i just wonder how they're doing. san andreas fault earthquakes are one thing, hurricanes are a completely different animal. cross your fingers.

i should also mention brad and katy and their 2 boys-ryan and sam. they are in virginia beach,va, which will probably get hammered too.
